A Word About Volunteering From Our Founder

After witnessing my mother and father give freely to others since I was a child from the 1950’s until their death, charity struck a cord with me. I often thought, “how and in what way I could contribute anything close to the enormous good they had done so often for so many?”. My parents purchased land and built a church for their personal pastor and to accompany that, they also built him and his family a home as well.

As I grew and matured, became more knowledgeable, sophisticated, and worldly, and as my faith and religious acumen blossomed, I realized the prodigious importance of building a house of worship and the infinite blessings that flow from such an achievement. I had to find a way to fulfill that potential within me as my parents had set the bar very, very high!
I knew that I didn’t have to re-invent the wheel as there was an incredible model  for success that I could really make a difference and give back to my community by continuing the programs that my parents had forged when I was a child! So the A & MWF began with the support of friends, neighbors, acquaintances, religious leaders, community members, and businesses dedicated to helping others.

A & MWF today is staffed entirely by volunteers willing to give their time and professional expertise to help those who need of a helping hand. Everyone gives freely of their time and expertise to ensure compliance with all guidelines. People with experience in their respective fields give their time, resources and expertise to ensure the most consummate services to our clients. Volunteers go through our donations each day, sorting what is suitable from what is not. Other volunteers receive training and provide the personal life altering services and experience to our clients.

The payoff for becoming a volunteer is enormous. This work is so compelling because we are really able to give those less fortunate the confidence that comes with being well dressed and prepared. Volunteers are rewarded with big smiles, lovely thank you notes, and sometimes tears of gratitude. We see a change in body language when a needy client has the necessities in life, lots of nourishing food, an education, a new job, comfortable housing, tries on fashionable quality clothing, often for the first time in their life; we feel privileged to be part of this transformation. We truly feel that we are having an impact on the self-sufficiency of families when we help them suceed and take control over their lives.

I encourage all of you to volunteer some part of your time and to share some part of your income with those who are in need. If we all give something, the world will become a better place for us all.

Sincerely,

Abdul-Jalil
